The London Mela is Europes biggest festival inspired by south asian culture. Founded in 2003 it has grown in strength to the point where in 2010 it was one of the major events on London’s cultural calendar with over 92,000 people attending Gunnersbury park in west London.
The Mela involves more than eight zones with urban, classical and experimental music; DJs, circus, dance, theatre, visual arts, comedy and the Magic Mela children’s area, not to mention a market area with food vendors from across the globe.
‘The Mela’ is a truly inclusive event, bringing together not only members of all London’s south asian communities but increasingly, a significant number of other communities take part in what is a unique celebration of London’s diverse cultural heritage.
Remarkable productions is proud to have been involved with ‘The Mela’ from the start and works closely with Ealing council, the Mayor of London and in association with Hounslow Council to produce this event which also involves partnerships with the BBC radio network, BBC London and several commercial sponsors.
